In my paintings and drawings there is a fundamental reliance upon intuition rather than intellect. It is the process of painting that directs me. I have more interest in expressing an emotional state of being rather than representation. Many of the same images appear in my work from time to time, year after year—birds, fish, women, water—I use them as guides to take me through the work.
